Dave Edwards believes that Wolves star Mario Lemina was the club’s best player in 2023 and that he personifies Wolverhampton Wanderers fans.
The 30-year-old defensive midfielder joined Wolves in the January transfer window and has been a crucial component in the Midlands club’s midfield since then.
Lemina has started eleven league games for Wolves this season and has scored twice in their past three.
Edwards lauded Lemina for his unrelenting work rate and drive on the field, emphasizing how dynamic he has been in their midfield.
He also believes that the Gabonese international was the finest player for Wolves in the 2023 calendar year and that he is the ideal player for the supporters.
“We are approaching a calendar year since Mario Lemina joined the football club,” Edwards wrote in his Express & Star column.
“There is no doubt in my mind that he has been Wolves’ best player in 2023.”
“It’s similar to Gary O’Neil in that he embodies what Wolves fans want, and I believe he is the ideal player for them.”
“Everything about the way he plays, especially with Wolves playing a two-man midfield, requires a lot of movement.”
“He is the constant in there, he has a tremendous work-rate, desire and he gets around the pitch so well.”
Wolves are presently 12th in the league rankings, and it remains to be seen whether Lemina can assist the Midlands club finish in the top half this season.
