The group renamed their media workroom in honor of longtime public relations executive Heather Walker, who passed away in April from brain cancer.

Following her death in April from an uncommon type of brain cancer, longtime PR executive Heather Walker was deeply missed by the Boston Celtics and the community. She had just been 52 years old.

Walker, a well-liked member of the community, spent 17 years working for the Celtics organization, most recently serving as Vice President of Public Relations. The Heather Walker Media Center is the new name the Celtics gave their media workroom on Monday in remembrance of her legacy.

Jaylen Brown gave a speech about Heather’s legacy and her significance to the organization on Monday afternoon after practice.

Brown stated, “Heather Walker meant everything.” She was the one I collaborated with a lot in the beginning of my career on media projects and all of my community service and off-court endeavors. Early in my career, Heather was handling a lot of those stuff outside of basketball. It is so terrible that she is no longer with us.

The “HW” emblem, which was present on players’ t-shirts when she departed, will be affixed to a window in the middle, according to Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe. In addition, a number of images that are hung on the wall depict her moments with the organization.

“It’s wonderful that Walker, her legacy, and her family can take pride in something by having a media center here in the building named after her.” One of the first individuals I met and one of the first people I was introduced to in Boston was Heather. Hearing that she was no longer with us made us very sad.

Support from the court is almost as crucial off the court for Brown, who is well-known for his social justice projects and strong community involvement.

Brown said, “She was just there with me every step of the way.” “Every school I went to was a community center. It’s wonderful to see that we renamed the media center in her honor and memory.

Walker launched the Move 4 Heather campaign, which aims to raise awareness and improve the lives of others, not long after receiving her diagnosis. Employed by the Celtics in 2006, she will always be a part of the team, the community, and the players.
