The Kansas City Chiefs’ short-yardage offense was once again a significant topic of discussion following the team’s 21-14 victory over the Miami Dolphins. In this video, KC Star reporter Jesse Newell and Brett Taveau (author of the Chiefs book “Unpacking Greatness” and a longtime high school offensive coordinator) take a closer look at two KC third-and-short passes that had wildly different results. So why did Patrick Mahomes get one easy completion in these scenarios, with the other Andy Reid play call failing? The difference could be found in the details, with the Dolphins turning to this late-game curveball to make things tougher on the Chiefs.
