After excelling at California’s Granite Bay High School, Wylie attended Fresno State from 2007 to 2011, where he finished his senior year with 56 receptions in 13 games.

In addition, Wylie led the Western Athletic Conference in punt return yardage (15.38) and scored touchdowns on two of those returns against Boise State (5th) and Nebraska (10th).

In the college football All-Star game, the East-West Shrine Bowl, he also had four punt returns for 54 yards.

In the 2012 draft, the Chiefs selected him in the fourth round.

Romeo Crennel, the coach of the Chiefs, stated, “He showed some pretty good quickness and things as far as catching the ball goes.” That was what he seemed to be all about. He really is speedy and runs excellent routes, in my opinion. He should be able to outpace opponents and have opportunities to make plays, in my opinion.

Despite catching six receptions in six games for Kansas City, Wylie was cut before the 2013 campaign got underway.

Wylie last participated in professional football in the CFL in 2017, and he has since focused on his music career.

The Barstool Fresno State tweeted, “RIP Devon Wylie.” “One of the best return players from Fresno State for special teams, if not the best ever.” My condolences to the Wylie family and the entire Red Wave community. This one not good.
