Breaking News: Just in 49ers confirmed the signing of another super star to practice

The San Francisco 49ers have added rookie defensive tackle Spencer Waege to their practice squad. Waege, a 6-foot-5, 295-pound former North Dakota State player, initially joined the 49ers as an undrafted free agent after the 2023 NFL Draft. He participated in the team’s offseason activities, including training camp and all four preseason games. However, he was waived before the regular season began.

In a corresponding move, defensive lineman Austin Bryant was released. Currently, T.Y. McGill is the only other defensive tackle on the practice squad, with no elevation to the active roster so far this season. On the active roster, the 49ers feature Javon Hargrave, Javon Kinlaw, Arik Armstead, Kevin Givens, and Kalia Davis at the defensive tackle position.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan is scheduled to address the media before Wednesday afternoon’s practice, where he is expected to provide updates on injuries and shed light on the decision to bring Waege back to the practice squad.
