Tuesday marked Green’s departure from the Sixers following their historic deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, which sent James Harden to the Pacific Division club and brought in Robert Covington, Marcus Morris, KJ Martin, and Nicolas Batum for Philadelphia. In the same trade, the Sixers also shipped former Gonzaga Bulldogs standout Filip Petrusev and PJ Tucker to Los Angeles. In September of last year, Green agreed to a one-year contract worth $3.2 million with the Sixers. In his two games with the team, he scored zero points, grabbed two rebounds, assisted someone, and stole a point in his 18 minutes of play.

Even though he parted ways with Harden, the Sixers—who are regarded as one of the top contenders for the NBA title this season—can benefit from having Green in the locker room even though his greatest days are behind him at age 36.

In the 2023–24 NBA season, Philadelphia has won eight of its first ten games. Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid are leading the team.
