Green Bay Packers are reportedly intersted in signing Vikings star

The Green Bay Packers could need to shift their attention to the 2024 campaign. With a record of 3-6, the Packers must win every week if they hope to make an unlikely playoff run. Despite this, the club hasn’t been able to consistently play “playoff caliber football” during the entire season.

It’s likely that the Packers will have more questions than answers when the 2024 offseason begins. Having said that, there have been nagging rumors for a while now about a veteran joining the team who has 145 career starts.

ESPN NFL analyst Dan Graziano thinks the Packers are a sleeper club that might surprise everyone by signing Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins, who is eligible to sign a free agent contract in the summer of 2016:

Should they conclude this season and determine that Love is not the right player going ahead, the Packers may not be inclined to select a different player and bide their time for him to mature. And even if they do that, a team with a young and talented wide receiver group may find that Cousins is the answer in the interim.

Would The Packers Actually Move On From Jordan Love?

It is highly unlikely that the Packers would part ways with Jordan Love after just one year, regardless of the team’s record at the end of the season. Even if expectations for a Super Bowl victory in Love’s debut season were not met, the coaching staff has observed his development during his time with the team. The intention was likely not an immediate Super Bowl win but rather to assess Love’s potential over at least one more season.

Drawing a parallel, Aaron Rodgers led the Packers to a Super Bowl three years after assuming the starting quarterback role. It seems reasonable to expect that the team would afford Love a similar timeframe to prove himself as the franchise quarterback in Green Bay. Additionally, the Packers have surrounded Love with several weapons of a similar age, aiming for collective growth in the coming years. A single year is likely insufficient time to abandon the potential development and success envisioned for Love and the team.
