How Does This Impact The Miami Dolphins Offense?
The Miami Dolphins offense, led by quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, has proved that it is capable of being the most explosive, and certainly the fastest, in the National Football League at times. Achane, who recorded an incredible 4.32 40 yard dash time at the NFL Scouting Combine, certainly adds on both counts.
However, the team has struggled to get things going against superior defenses, averaging only 17 points – compared to a season average of 31.7 – in three losses to the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and Philadelphia Eagles – all of whom comprise the pinnacle (maybe not the Bills all of the time) of the NFL.
With Achane and veteran speedster Raheem Mostert splitting carries in the backfield, the team gains significantly more versatility in having a true dual run threat. This combination was the most effective throughout the season, with the two contributing to the record-breaking 70-20 victory over the Denver Broncos in September.
Let’s see whether De’Von Achane can re-energize the Miami Dolphins, who are coming off a bye week (and a loss to Kansas City in Germany). This week, they host the 5-5 Las Vegas Raiders, and they are 13.5 point favorites.
