In some ways, the Miami Dolphins are having the type of season they haven’t enjoyed in decades.
They hold a 6-3 record, which is tied for the second-best record in the AFC, and they’re arguably the best offensive team in the entire NFL, as they rank first in points scored and total yards.
While wide receiver Tyreek Hill is having a historic season and Jaylen Waddle has proven to be a very strong WR2, the Dolphins could use a third playmaker at the position.
Robbie Chosen has failed to be that third reliable playmaker, and thus Miami waived him on Thursday, per Dov Kleiman.
Chosen, who was once known as Robbie Anderson, used to be a fairly productive wide receiver who put up over 1,000 receiving yards as recently as 2020.
He went undrafted out of Temple University in 2016, yet his ability to run the 40-yard dash in under 4.4 seconds got him a spot on the New York Jets that year.
The concern with the Dolphins seems to surround their porous defense and their inability to beat quality teams this season.
They have easily taken care of bad and mediocre teams, but their three losses have come against the Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, and Kansas City Chiefs.
Their upcoming schedule looks relatively manageable, but their last three games will be versus the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, and Bills, and those three games could decide whether they will have any shot at getting to the Super Bowl.
In fact, it is entirely possible they could slip out of the playoff picture if they do poorly in those contests.
