Ryan Fraser’s time at Newcastle United has been peculiar, but it appears to be coming to an end. The 29-year-old Scotland international is presently on loan at Championship club Southampton, where he has rediscovered his form. As a result, it is expected that the small winger would seek a permanent move to the south-coast club.
Fraser joined Newcastle on a free transfer after leaving Bournemouth in a quarrel with then-manager Eddie Howe.
Newcastle never saw the best of Fraser on a consistent basis
He showed flashes of what he could accomplish at Newcastle but spent a lot of time injured, miraculously recovering to play in internationals before getting injured again.
That didn’t sit well with the majority of the Toon Army, and Fraser had his job cut out for him in order to win them over.Fraser’s situation worsened when the PIF-backed acquisition was completed and the new owners hired Eddie Howe as manager. For a time, the two got along well, and Howe frequently employed Fraser.
In fact, witnessing Fraser follow Dan Burn out of the tunnel became one of the game’s highlights for many fans. However it soon came to an end when Howe sent Fraser to train with the reserves all-but ending his Newcastle career.
