Done deal: Denver Nuggets confirmed to welcome another super star

**Jamal Murray Nearing Return from Hamstring Injury, Set to Join Nuggets on 5-Game Trip**

Jamal Murray, the dynamic point guard for the Denver Nuggets, is on the verge of making a comeback from a hamstring injury and is slated to accompany the team on their upcoming five-game trip. Nuggets coach Michael Malone, addressing the media after Thursday’s practice, expressed optimism about Murray’s progress but stopped short of confirming his participation in the road trip that commences Friday in New Orleans as part of the In-Season Tournament.

“While I’m not certain about his availability for the upcoming games, the reports I’m receiving indicate that he’s diligently working towards his return, making positive strides every day,” stated Malone. The Nuggets, currently boasting a 2-0 record in the inaugural in-season tournament, eagerly await Murray’s return.

Murray, alongside two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, played a pivotal role in leading the Nuggets to their first franchise championship last season. During the postseason, Murray showcased his scoring prowess by averaging 26.1 points, contributing significantly to the Nuggets’ 16-4 record.

The 26-year-old guard had an impressive start to the current season, averaging 16.3 points and 7.4 assists, before encountering a hamstring tweak on November 4 against the Chicago Bulls. Given Murray’s recent injury history, the Nuggets are taking a cautious approach to ensure a full recovery. Notably, Murray missed the entire 2021-22 season due to a torn ACL.

In Murray’s absence, veteran Reggie Jackson has seamlessly filled the starting lineup, aiding the team to a 3-1 record. Jackson, averaging 14.8 points during this stretch, has played a crucial role in maintaining the Nuggets’ top position in the Western Conference standings (9-2).

Coach Malone praised Jackson’s performance, emphasizing his veteran presence and contributions to both the starting and second units. Meanwhile, rookies like Jalen Pickett and Collin Gillespie have seen expanded roles, gaining valuable experience on the court.

Michael Porter Jr. emphasized the positive impact of younger players getting playing time, acknowledging that it bodes well for the team in the long and demanding NBA season. As the Nuggets eagerly await Murray’s return, the team remains focused on maintaining their impressive form with a collective effort from the entire roster.
