Alan Pardew now thinks 22-year-old Newcastle player is a really ‘exciting’ talent

Alan Pardew, the former manager of Newcastle United, believes Gareth Southgate should pay more attention to one of Eddie Howe’s attackers ahead of Euro 2024.

To the amazement of many Toon fans, Kieran Trippier was the sole Newcastle player included in the most current England team. Anthony Gordon had been expected to get his first callup, but that did not happen.

Given Newcastle’s injury troubles, the England omission was aAnthony Gordon blessing in disguise, but it did not help Gordon’s chances of representing the Three Lions at Euro 2024.

Since then, there has been speculation of him playing for Scotland instead, and experts have questioned whether he should be included in the Three Lions roster.

Alan Pardew has spoken out, and the former Newcastle manager believes Gordon should be included in the England squad as soon as possible.

Alan Pardew wants Anthony Gordon in the England squad

Pardew appeared on TalkSPORT, where he praised Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon and his England ambitions.

“I’ve actually got Anthony Gordon as a ‘must take’,” he told me.

“With the way he plays, I believe he could be a good option off the bench.” If I were Gareth, I’d add him to the group as soon as this result is complete.

“You have Grealish, Sterling, who is in excellent form, and Rashford.” You have a lot of nice possibilities.

“There’s something special about Gordon and Newcastle right now.” He has an enticing quality about him. I honestly believe he could contribute to the group.”

Newcastle winger must keep impressing in black and white

Gordon is correct, according to Pardew. He has the potential to be an excellent substitute option for Southgate. This season, the 22-year-old has proven to be a gamechanger, which is exactly what England manager Gareth Southgate requires.

Gordon has come a long way since moving to Newcastle. He’s always been talented, but he’s become a lot more complete player. He can be relied on in critical situations and continues to deliver in a black and white shirt when called upon.

And that is what he must continue to do if he is to make the England squad. He’s already on Southgate’s radar, and if he keeps playing at this level, he’ll be impossible to ignore.

Gordon’s turn will come, but his first aim must be to perform well for Newcastle, and Eddie Howe will rely heavily on him as the Magpies prepare for a difficult run of games.

If Gordon can continue to be Newcastle’s main man in attack, he will surely make Southgate’s squad when the next international break comes around.
