Newcastle United assistant manager Jason Tindall clearly saw the light after the players mocked him for the attention he received on social media. Kieran Trippier has said that Jason Tindall could only chuckle after being ‘hammered’ by Newcastle United players for becoming a’meme’.
Earlier this year, a Twitter account called ‘Jason Tindall desperate for attention’ made headlines after highlighting the Newcastle assistant shaking an opposing manager’s hand before Eddie Howe; the 45-year-old being front and center in dressing room photographs; and instances of the number two being the first to greet players after they were taken off.
Nearly 55,000 people follow the account, which is larger than the capacity of St James’ Park, and Howe previously stated that “we’ve spent the last half hour having a laugh with him about certain things he’s been sent.” The squad even made sure Tindall was at the front of the dressing room picture taken after Newcastle qualified for the Champions League last season, making the peace sign with both hands while sitting on the floor, to ‘rub it in everyone’s faces that had something to say’.
“I’ve known JT for many years, going back to my Burnley days,” Trippier said to Sky Sports. “The manager is the manager, so JT is the one to see if you have any questions.”
“He’s a meme, as you can see on social media.” We keep hammering him on it. He merely laughs since he and the manager get along so well.
“They have a great understanding on the touchline, and it’s funny because that’s how it’s always been since Bournemouth days.” He is smacked for it. Don’t be concerned.”
