Rams have waived running back Darrell Henderson following the return to full health of Kyren Williams. Henderson’s brief return to the Rams was triggered by Williams landing on injured reserve and the trade of Cam Akers. In four games on the active roster, the 26-year-old carried the ball 46 times, caught 10 passes, and accumulated 112 rushing yards and two touchdowns along with 103 receiving yards. Despite his productive performances, Henderson will not continue with the Rams upon Williams’ return. It remains to be seen if another team will claim him off waivers, similar to the Jaguars in 2022.
Alternatively, Henderson might be considered for re-signing to the Rams’ practice squad. The Rams, currently ranked 20th in the NFL for ground performance, will rely on Williams and veteran Royce Freeman in the rushing game moving forward as they aim for a late-season playoff push with a 4-6 record. Henderson, unless retained through the taxi squad, will not be part of this playoff effort.
