Danny Murphy now makes ‘Bold’ Newcastle vs Chelsea score prediction ahead of weekend clash

Former Premier League midfielder Danny Murphy believes Chelsea will defeat Newcastle United this weekend.

Chelsea are in good form and will face Newcastle at St James’ Park on Saturday. Mauricio Pochettino’s men drew 4-4 with Manchester City right before the international break, following a 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Danny Murphy has recently stated on FIVE that he believes the Blues will be able to pick up where they left off.

They could be aided by the return of Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia, who are both expected to be included in the matchday squad after recovering from injuries.

Danny Murphy’s Newcastle vs Chelsea prediction

Chelsea’s recent record at St James’ Park has been dismal. Despite this, Murphy believes the Blues will come out on top despite Newcastle’s injury woes.

The former Liverpool player told FIVE ahead of Saturday’s game, “I think Chelsea will win at Newcastle because of Newcastle’s injuries.”

Will Chelsea really beat Newcastle this weekend?

We hope so, but if you ask any Chelsea supporter which away ground they despise the most, the majority will undoubtedly respond St James’ Park. It’s just not a nice spot for the Blues, who were defeated 1-0 there last season.

This time, with Chelsea having found some form and Pochettino taking over for Graham Potter, there is cause to be a little more confident.

Even with Newcastle’s injury woes, it will not be an easy game.

It would be fantastic if Chelsea could take all three points to keep their Champions League hopes alive, but a draw, perhaps a 1-1, appears to be the most likely scenario when all factors are considered. But, hopefully, Pochettino’s team can go one better.
