Former Hull City man makes shock move to club in seventh tier

Former Hull City and Huddersfield Town forward Oumar Niasse has joined non-league club Macclesfield. The 33-year-old has Premier League experience and international caps for Senegal, but will now play in England’s seventh division.

He’s been training with the Silkmen, led by former Hull teammate Alex Bruce. Bruce has now sought to obtain Niasse’s services on a short-term contract that must be approved by the league.

“Macclesfield FC are delighted to have agreed terms to sign former Everton and Hull City striker Oumar Niasse on a short term deal subject to league approval,” the club said in a statement.

“With over 50 appearances at the highest level under his belt, Niasse will be able to share his expertise.”

“With his pace and power, the former Senegalese International adds real quality to Alex Bruce’s squad.”

“Everyone at Macclesfield FC would like to wish Oumar every success during his time at The Leasing.com Stadium.”

Macclesfield are currently fourth in the Premier Division of the Northern Premier League.

Bruce took over after the club parted ways with former Sheffield United winger Mark Duffy, who had previously served as head coach.
