Huddersfield Town are in a poor condition heading into this weekend’s meeting with Southampton. Under Darren Moore, the Terriers have continued to struggle, and they currently rank 21st in the Championship table. They’ve lost three of their previous four league games but are still four points clear of the drop zone after 16 games.
Huddersfield’s situation isn’t improving with the coming of Southampton. After a slow start, the Saints have found their stride and look set to challenge for the automatic promotion slots for the rest of the season.
Russell Martin and his teammates have won four of their past five Championship games, including three straight before to the international break.
Here are some of our writers’ predictions for the game…
James Ray
“It’s difficult to dismiss anyone in this division, but I can’t help but think this goes only one way.” Southampton have demonstrated attacking prowess, whilst Huddersfield Town are lifeless at the top of the table, which could be evident tonight.Martin’s methods appear to have permeated the players, and Huddersfield are the type of team the Saints could dominate. Moore will be expecting to have made progress over the break in order to make life difficult for the visitors, but I’m not optimistic about their chances.
“The hosts could have another miserable day. “I’m going for a 3-0 win away.”
John Reid
“Huddersfield must start producing results.” They are on a four-game losing streak and are barely four points clear of the relegation zone.
“However, don’t expect that to happen against Southampton.” Russell Martin’s team is unbeaten in eight games, has turned their season around after a shaky start, and is in the play-off picture.
“The Saints should win comfortably by a couple of goals.” Southampton wins 2-0.”
