Eddie Howe spoke to the media this morning in preparation for tomorrow’s Premier League match against Chelsea.
While Newcastle United is dealing with a large injury list, as well as Sandro Tonali’s lengthy suspension, there is one player who is fit and raring to go but will be unable to play tomorrow: 19-year-old Lewis Hall.
Even though Newcastle have a deal in place to buy Hall for an initial £28 million in the summer, he is still technically a Chelsea player this season and is unable to face his parent club due to Premier League rules.
Newcastle fans are still waiting to see the best of Hall but they know he’s got the potential
Hall has made a few appearances for the Magpies this season, with mixed results, but Eddie Howe isn’t concerned about his form since he knows he’s working with a potential star. In his press conference this morning, Howe mentioned Hall and commended the versatile fullback for his dedication in training (via The Chronicle).
“His dedication to his training and all of the work he’s done behind the scenes has been outstanding.” He’s a really skilled young player. He possesses a lovely left foot and a good level of technical skill.
“He has a great deal of potential.” I believe a few aspects of his game might be smoothed out and improved, but that would be true of any young player. We have complete faith in him.”
Chelsea fans were furious when Lewis Hall was allowed to leave for Newcastle
The fact that so many Chelsea fans erupted when the Blues released Lewis Hall demonstrates how highly they regarded him.
Newcastle supporters have yet to witness his best, but there have been a few occasions that back up Howe’s statements.
We can’t wait to see more of Hall in the starting lineup. The only way for him to genuinely catch up is to play.
