Juventus could face a two-way battle with Newcastle United for Kalvin Phillips and Fabian Ruiz, with the Magpies interested in both.
According to Calciomercato, the club clubs are competing with their ambitions for the January transfer window.
They add that Juventus is considering a deal for Kalvin Phillips in order to cover for the suspensions of Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli, who were suspended for failing a drugs test and unlawful gambling, respectively. Manchester City would be delighted to transfer Phillips to Italy, but the midfielder has other plans and is ‘thinking about Newcastle’ instead. As a result, the England international might face a tug of war.
And that’s not the only spot where the two teams could clash, as they’re both interested in Paris Saint-Germain’s Fabian Ruiz.
Calciomercato write that while the relationship between PSG and Juve ‘heats up’, Newcastle are ‘trying to get in on the action’ by ‘immediately offering’ the €30m asked by those in power at PSG.
As a result, they may have gotten a leg up on its Italian opponents, who appear to be examining their alternatives rather than making concrete proposals at this time.
In any case, Newcastle and Juventus are set to go head-to-head in the January transfer window for a possible double tussle over Ruiz and Phillips.
