Mason Burstow of Sunderland is expected to return to the team for the encounter against Huddersfield Town.
With an injury, the 20-year-old missed Saturday’s defeat to Plymouth Argyle.
This season, the Chelsea loanee has made nine appearances for the Black Cats, seven of which have been starts.
He has yet to score, with an assist in the win over Sheffield Wednesday at the end of September being his only goal contribution.
Journo confirms return of striker
According to Sunderland Echo journalist Joe Nicholson, Burstow is scheduled to rejoin to the squad on Wednesday evening following his weekend absence.
“Mason Burstow is also expected to be available again after missing the Plymouth match with a knock.”
Will Burstow finally score?
So far this season, striker has proven to be a difficult position for manager Tony Mowbray. So far this season, none of the recognized attackers have scored, as seen by games like Saturday.
Sunderland had 24 efforts on goal on Saturday, with eight of them on target – with that many chances, you have to score.
Meanwhile, Plymouth had only ten and made their count.
As a result, the discussion regarding the need for a striker has resurfaced, with Uruguayan Luciano Rodriguez connected with a move last week. Ross Stewart was the last recognized striker to score for the club in January. They definitely did not effectively replace him after he left for Southampton late in the summer window.
While Burstow’s return to action is encouraging for Mowbray, the former Charlton striker has struggled this season and will be looking for more chances to end the club’s striker hoodoo.
