Breaking News: Braves Are Now Linked To Ex-Red Sox Super Star As Possible Option To Bolster Starting Rotation

Could the Braves sign the former Red Sox superstar this offseason? The Atlanta Braves were the top regular season club in baseball in 2023, but they need to improve this offseason.

Atlanta won 104 games in 2023 but was defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Division Series. The starting rotation is the Braves’ most pressing issue this offseason, as it is with many other teams. This summer, Atlanta has been linked to a number of top-tier pitchers, including former Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers hurler Eduardo Rodrguez.

“Atlanta needs starting pitching depth after trading Kyle Wright and Michael Soroka this offseason,” Bowden said. “Rodrguez would be an excellent fit for the Braves, slotting into the middle of their rotation.” He was 13-9 with a 3.30 ERA and 1.153 WHIP in 26 appearances for Detroit last season.”

Rodrguez had perhaps his best season in 2023, posting a 3.30 ERA in 26 starts and 152 2/3 innings pitched. The big lefty has been consistent since signing with the Detroit Tigers in free agency ahead of the 2022 season, and he would be a great fit for the Braves.

Throughout the 2023 season, the 30-year-old was featured in trade speculations but ended up staying in Detroit. He eventually turned down a trade to the Los Angeles Dodgers and stayed with the Tigers. Despite this, Rodriguez chose to opt out of his contract with Detroit and join free agency. He’ll have a strong market, and it wouldn’t be strange to see the Braves make a move.
