‘Disgusting’ – Alan Shearer slams Newcastle United decision at PSG after X-rated rant

Alan Shearer, a Newcastle United icon, reacted to Paris Saint-Germain’s contentious penalty in the Champions League on Tuesday night. Alan Shearer lauded Newcastle United’s’superb’ performance at Paris Saint-Germain but was dissatisfied with the late penalty decision.

Newcastle took the lead in the first half through Alexander Isak before PSG equalized in the 98th minute from a Kylian Mbappe penalty awarded for a handball inside the area by Tino Livramento. After Ousmane Dembele’s cross touched Tino Livramento’s chest before skimming his elbow, the on-field decision was to allow play to continue.

Referee Szymon Marciniak was prompted by a VAR check to refer to the monitor and award the penalty, a decision that might cost Newcastle their Champions League qualification if they fail to defeat AC Milan next month. Shearer responded to the penalty judgment with an expletive-laden tweet before providing a more pragmatic answer at full-time.

“A superb battling away performance from every single player,” the Magpies legend remarked. A bad decision should not ruin everything. “Excellent work.” While Newcastle has taken four points off the French champions in the Champions League group stage, the draw at Parc des Princes means they must beat AC Milan in their final Group F match while also relying on Borussia Dortmund’s result against PSG on Wednesday, December 13.
