Houston Texans QB star Named NFL Rookie, AFC Offensive Player of the Month

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud has garnered recognition for his outstanding performance in November by receiving two prestigious league awards. Stroud was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Month and the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month, underscoring his impactful contributions to the Texans during this period.

Throughout the month, Stroud showcased his skills on the field, amassing 1,466 passing yards and 10 touchdowns while recording four interceptions. Notably, he set a new NFL rookie record for passing yards in a single game with an impressive 470 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His stellar performances positioned him as a standout rookie in the league.

During this four-game stretch, Stroud led the NFL in passing yards and topped the AFC in passing touchdowns. Notably, he achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the first rookie to throw for over 300 yards in four consecutive games.

In reflecting on his progress, Stroud acknowledged that the NFL game has gradually “slowed down” for him since joining the league in his rookie season. He highlighted the importance of preseason games and practice in acclimating to the professional level, emphasizing the value of learning from mistakes and failures.

While the Texans currently face an uphill battle to reach the postseason, Stroud’s exceptional performance has kept them in contention for a playoff berth. The rookie quarterback’s impact on the team has been pivotal, contributing significantly to the Texans’ competitive standing.

Looking ahead, the Texans will seek to build on Stroud’s success as they face the Denver Broncos at NRG Stadium this weekend. The upcoming game presents an opportunity for Stroud to continue making strides and further solidify his position as a standout rookie in the NFL.
