‘Huge boost’ Newcastle United official update as key duo are set to return v Man Utd

It appears that Newcastle United’s squad will be relatively unchanged in terms of injuries ahead of their match against Manchester United. Eddie Howe anticipates that his team will be as they were previously when they face Manchester United at St James’ Park. There don’t seem to be any expected fitness improvements for the team, specifically regarding Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock.

Following their 1-1 draw in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain, it seems that there were no new injury concerns reported by Howe. Additionally, the squad will witness the return of Matt Ritchie and Emil Krafth, who are set to be available on the bench. They had missed the PSG match due to their absence from the Champions League squad.

Certainly, here’s the updated injury status for Newcastle United:

– Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff have missed the last two matches due to Achilles and ankle injuries, respectively. While Eddie Howe insists these injuries are not long-term, they won’t be available for the match against Manchester United at St James’ Park. Howe expressed hope for their return but highlighted the difficulty in predicting their exact recovery time due to the congested fixture schedule.

– Sven Botman is back in training but away from the first-team as he continues his recovery from a knee injury.

– Harvey Barnes and Callum Wilson remain sidelined with foot and hamstring issues, respectively.

– Elliot Anderson, Dan Burn, Matt Targett, and Jacob Murphy are all dealing with injuries that will keep them out until early 2024.

– Sandro Tonali is facing a prolonged absence as he has been handed a 10-month betting ban, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

These injuries and absences pose challenges for Newcastle United’s squad depth and availability in various positions as they navigate through their upcoming fixtures.
