Mehrdad Ghodoussi has spoken out about Newcastle United’s 1-0 triumph over Manchester United and the atmosphere at St James’ Park. Mehrdad Ghodoussi thanked Newcastle United fans after their 1-0 triumph over Manchester United on Saturday evening at St James’ Park.
Newcastle United won their sixth consecutive league game at St James’ Park thanks to a goal by Anthony Gordon. Ghodoussi asked for’more’ from Newcastle fans after the club’s previous home victory over Chelsea.
He posted the following message on Twitter: “What a team #nufc we need to give these guys more support in the stadium, we need to be louder, we need to be the 12th man.” However, significant parts of the Newcastle fan base interpreted his comments as a criticism of the St James’ Park atmosphere. Ghodoussi took to Twitter again to reconfirm his loyalty to Newcastle, implying that his previous remark was encouraging rather than disparaging.
“Often, our intentions and words don’t align perfectly,” Ghodoussi tweeted. “I believe most of you understand how dedicated I am to this club; my heart beats in black and white, and my love for the club and all of you is unwavering.”
“Let’s cross our fingers for tonight; we stand together.” Here’s to us and our shared path. Howay, lads.”
After the triumph on Saturday, the Newcastle co-owner praised the atmosphere at St James’ Park. “Thank you for your incredible support tonight,” he tweeted. @nufc #NUFC @jamiereuben St James’ rocked.”
Arsenal and Liverpool are the only Premier League teams that have defeated Newcastle at St James’ Park since the season began. This season, Newcastle have already beaten Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Manchester City at St James’ Park, with their lone Premier League defeat coming late against Liverpool in August.
