‘This place…’ – Conor Coady sends new West Brom message after clash

The Black Country derby is a rivalry that every West Brom and Wolves fan in the country is aware of, and Conor Coady is no exception.

Coady, who joined Leicester City on a permanent basis last summer, was in the squad for the 2-1 win over West Brom on Saturday (2 November).

However, it was evident that his former club Wolves, as well as his animosity for the Baggies, remained in his mind, owing to the rivalry between the two Midlands clubs.

Coady captioned his Instagram story, “Always nice getting a win at this place.”

Different divisions of hatred

West Brom vs. Wolves is a rivalry that some fans have yet to witness, as the two teams rarely encounter for more than a few years at a time.

The last time the derby took place was in the 2021/22 Premier League season, when West Brom won 3-2 away before drawing 1-1 at Molineux.

Despite the setback to the league leaders on Saturday and the player’s antagonizing story, Baggies fans will be able to laugh at him, as many have already done.

The 32-year-old was captain of Wolves before going on loan to Everton last season, when he was dropped by Sean Dyche in the final weeks of the season. Now that he has joined the Foxes in the Championship, he has been assigned a comfortable seat on the bench, with Jannik Vestergaard and Wout Faes preferred instead.

The ex-England international has had a difficult time. Coady has fallen behind Craig Dawson, James Tarkowski, and now the centre-back partnership at the King Power Stadium.

When considering Coady’s current circumstances, West Brom fans may have the last laugh, despite his gloating following the Baggies’ fifth loss of the season.
