Latest News: Houston Texans confirmed major injury setback with experienced Texans star now ruled out till…

The Houston Texans faced a devastating blow in their Week 13 victory as rookie wide receiver Tank Dell suffered a season-ending injury, a broken fibula that will land him on injured reserve, according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport. Dell’s exit from the game occurred in the final seconds of the first quarter, coinciding with Dameon Pierce’s three-yard rushing touchdown. The Texans had to cart Dell off the field after he was unable to walk.

Coach DeMeco Ryans expressed the team’s collective sentiment, stating, “It hurts to lose Tank.” He highlighted Dell’s invaluable contributions, noting the spark he provided every week. Dell’s impact on the team has been substantial, with the former University of Houston prospect amassing 709 yards on 47 catches and seven touchdowns, contributing significantly to the Texans’ 7-5 record after 12 games.

Ryans, however, emphasized that the loss is felt not just in terms of on-field performance but also for the person Tank Dell is off the field. The emotional toll resonated with the team, especially rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, who led the team in prayer for his fallen teammate. This injury brought back memories of losing rookie center Jarrett Patterson to a season-ending ankle injury in October.

The connection between Dell and Stroud has grown into one of the league’s top quarterback-wide receiver tandems, extending beyond the field. Dell had previously shared in September that they had developed a strong off-field relationship, spending time together throughout the day and enjoying each other’s company.

Reflecting on the tight-knit rookie class, Stroud acknowledged their collective mindset of building the franchise’s foundation. Despite the somber moment, Stroud remains optimistic about Dell’s potential return, even entertaining the idea of the duo making an impact in the Super Bowl. Stroud, however, candidly admitted to feeling the pain of losing his brother on the field and expressed heartfelt prayers for Dell’s swift recovery, emphasizing their plans to continue their dynamic partnership on the field for years to come.
