Two top managers are now shortlisted as favourites to take the reign at Rotherham United

Steve Evans, the former Leeds United manager, is the new favorite to take over at Rotherham United. The 61-year-old is already well-known to Rotherham fans, having led the Millers from 2012 to 2015. He is now in charge of League One club Stevenage, who are currently fourth in the third division.

Evans’ name appeared on early lists of favourites to be recruited after Rotherham fired Matt Taylor. His chances improved when it was revealed that Nathan Jones had been interviewed for the position. Jones is said to have shunned the Millers, which appears to have propelled Evans back into the lead at 2/1 with BetVictor. Jones is currently 6/1 to win the race, trailing second favorite Leam Richardson (3/1).

Rotherham United are still overseen by a caretaker team, which oversaw the weekend 0-0 draw with Birmingham City. The managerless Millers also managed to draw 1-1 with high-flying Leeds United.

Rotherham’s eventual choice will face a difficult task at the AESSEAL New York Stadium. Rotherham are 23rd in the league, with Sheffield Wednesday the only team with fewer points.

The Millers are seven points ahead of Huddersfield Town, who are now in 21st place.
