Breaking news: Just In Oklahoma Lands Highly Touted Offensive Tackle Through Transfer Portal

Oklahoma still has one game remaining on its schedule, but reinforcements are already arriving. On Wednesday, the Sooners received a significant commitment from former Michigan State offensive tackle Spencer Brown.

Brown has one year of eligibility and picked Oklahoma over USC, Ole Miss, and a slew of other prestigious colleges. The 6-foot-6, 310-pound lineman will be a tremendous assistance to Bill Bedenbaugh’s offensive line, which will have to replace seasoned players on both sides. He’ll be an immediate replacement for Oklahoma on the right side of the line, where they’re looking to replace fifth-year senior Walter Rouse.

“I aimed to join one of college football’s esteemed programs,” Brown stated to On3. “I believe that Coach Venables and Coach Bedenbaugh possess exceptional coaching abilities that can enhance my overall skills as a player, teammate, and individual beyond the field.” Brown has been a consistent starter for the Spartans over the last two seasons, standing out in Michigan State’s offensive lineup. Throughout his four-year tenure with the Spartans, he started in 25 games, offering stability in the team’s frontline. While displaying adaptability to play in various positions, his primary role was at right tackle—a position he’s likely to assume with the Sooners. Oklahoma, transitioning to the SEC, has sought to fortify its depth in the offensive line, making a sizable tackle like Brown a fitting addition. This commitment marks Brent Venables and his team’s first move in the transfer portal, signaling more to come in the future.
