Don Goodman predicts West Brom scoreline v Sunderland in Championship showdown

Don Goodman believes West Brom will get a point against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

Carlos Corberan’s players will be eager to avenge their late defeat to Leicester last week, while Sunderland are now without a manager after sacking ex-Albion coach Tony Mowbray.

Former Baggies striker Goodman feels the Black Cats will be confident enough to prevent Albion from winning on Saturday (9 December). “This will be a difficult game. Sunderland don’t usually play draws, but I believe this will be one. “I’m going to say 2-2,” Goodman stated, according to the Sunderland Echo on Thursday (7 December).

Close contest

West Brom’s recent match list has been extremely difficult, and if you offered a supporter nine points from the 15 available against Hull, Southampton, Ipswich, Cardiff, and Leicester, they’d probably take it. But the late defeat to Leicester at The Hawthorns on 2 December was a true gut punch because the club played well enough to earn a draw and then blew it by surrendering Harry Wink’s stoppage-time winner.

Despite not having a manager, Sunderland will be difficult to beat. They are currently ninth, and firing Mowbray was a horrible decision.

Sure, they only have one point from their previous nine opportunities, but so what? They’re still only three points outside the top six and have some decent matchups left in December after facing West Brom and Leeds in the coming days.

Albion’s December fixture list is quite difficult.

After Sunderland, they play Rotherham and Stoke, but then it’s Middlesbrough, Norwich, and Leeds before a trip to Swansea on New Year’s Day and then into the FA Cup.

January appears to be a better month, however due to the club’s financial situation, January will most certainly be dominated by transfer news at The Hawthorns.
