Good News: Cleveland Browns confirm to welcome another vital player ahead of next game

In a noteworthy development for the Cleveland Browns, rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson returned to practice on Wednesday, marking his first on-field appearance since suffering a concussion in Week 12. Although he remains in the concussion protocol, Thompson-Robinson displayed progress after sustaining a hit late in the third quarter against the Broncos. The young quarterback did not participate in practice during the Browns’ week in Los Angeles and was subsequently absent from the Week 13 matchup against the Rams. In his absence, veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, who had recently been signed to the practice squad, made his inaugural start for the Browns, completing 23 of 44 passes for 254 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski provided insights into Thompson-Robinson’s ongoing recovery, emphasizing that the decision on the starting quarterback for the upcoming Week 14 game against the Jaguars would be made based on the progress observed during the week. While Thompson-Robinson has not yet been cleared, his return to practice, albeit as a limited participant, is a positive sign.

During the media-accessible portion of practice, Flacco took the initial reps in various drills, with Thompson-Robinson following suit. The quarterback situation for the Browns has been tumultuous this season, with injuries necessitating multiple changes. Thompson-Robinson assumed the starting role after Deshaun Watson’s season-ending injury, making two starts before the concussion. In those starts against the Steelers and the Broncos, he completed 38 of 72 passes for 299 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

As the Browns gear up for consecutive home games, the uncertainty surrounding the quarterback position hinges on Thompson-Robinson’s availability. Throughout the challenges of the season, Stefanski has witnessed continuous improvement in Thompson-Robinson, emphasizing the quarterback’s dedication to enhancing his skills as the season progresses. The team remains optimistic about his return and eagerly awaits further developments during the week.
