After missing one game due to a hamstring injury, tight end Dalton Schultz returned to practice for the Houston Texans. Schultz sustained the injury during the Texans’ 24-21 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on November 26 and was one of four limited participants during Wednesday’s practice at the Houston Methodist Training Center.
Coach DeMeco Ryans expressed excitement about the potential return of Schultz, stating, “Anytime we get our starters back, of course, we’re excited about that. We’ll see where Dalton ends up by the end of the week.”
Dalton Schultz, who signed with the Texans as a free agent in March, has become one of quarterback C.J. Stroud’s top targets in the passing game. He has recorded 40 catches for 455 yards and five touchdowns this season.
During Schultz’s absence, third-year tight end Brevin Jordan filled in and played a crucial role in the Texans’ 22-17 victory against the Denver Broncos. Jordan finished the game with a season-best 64 yards on three catches.
In addition to Schultz, Will Anderson Jr., Noah Brown, and Sheldon Rankins were limited participants during Wednesday’s practice. George Fant (hip), Neville Hewitt (hamstring), Laremy Tunsil (knee), Jimmie Ward (shoulder), and Robert Woods (rest) were absent from practice. The team is preparing for an upcoming game against the New York Jets.
