Max Kilman lauded Wolves forward Hwang Hee-chan after he scored his eighth Premier League goal of the season.
Wanderers returned to winning ways on Tuesday night, defeating Burnley 1-0 at Molineux.
It was a crucial victory after back-to-back defeats against Fulham and Arsenal, and there is now an 11-point margin between them and the relegation zone.
The Wolves were not at their best, but a superb moment from Hwang made the difference on the night. The critical moments were his goal and Dan Bentley’s fantastic double save right before it.
Hwang is in top form, and after the game, he received plaudits from captain Max Kilman…
Max Kilman hails ‘phenomenal’ Wolves teammate Hwang Hee-chan
Hwang has nine goals in all competitions, making this his best-scoring season for Wolves.
Hwang has been consistent from the start of the season, but he has only recently begun to receive praise from neutrals following Pedro Neto’s injury.
He has gained increased attention in recent months, yet Kilman asserts that Hwang’s brilliance has been consistent throughout the entire season. Kilman also highlighted Hwang’s growing comfort within the club as a possible reason for his improved performance.
Kilman praised Hwang, emphasizing that even when not scoring, he contributes significantly to the team’s efforts. He commended Hwang’s exceptional performance, acknowledging the support from teammates like Cunha, Pedro Neto, and Pablo Sarabia in trying to assist him. According to Kilman, Channy, as he fondly calls Hwang, has been exceptional this season.
Gary’s influence has boosted Hwang’s confidence. Kilman noted that while Hwang was in and out of the team last season, this season he’s consistently playing and seizing every opportunity. Hwang now plays with more confidence, proactivity, creating scoring chances for himself and demonstrating impressive finishing skills.
Upon arriving in England a couple of years ago, Hwang faced challenges in settling due to the language barrier. However, he has since adapted remarkably well, learning English and integrating into the team smoothly. Kilman praised Hwang’s character, describing him as a polite and commendable individual deserving of all the success he’s achieved.
What a player
Hwang has been the Wolves’ standout performer this season.
While Pedro Neto has been fantastic, it is ultimately all about scoring goals and winning games, which Wolves have struggled with since Nuno Espirito Santo left the club.
Hwang’s eight league goals so far are a tremendous achievement, and he deserves all of the praise.
He hasn’t always had it easy. As Kilman points out, he was in and out of the lineup last season, and he’s had periods of poor form at the club as well as injuries.
But he’s thriving now under O’Neil, which is amazing to watch for such a humble person.
