Breaking news: Raiders’ announces move that will make Week 14 game vs. Vikings more emotional

The Las Vegas Raiders’ season-long troubles, which resulted in their head coach’s dismissal in early November, could use some positive energy. So it’s wonderful to hear the Raiders will play with a little additional bounce in their step this Sunday when they take part in the NFL’s famed “My Cause, My Cleats” promotion versus the Minnesota Vikings.

The team posted some styles their players will wear in a social media post on Thursday. Check it out here.

Since 2016, athletes have been able to join in the My Cause My Cleats program by wearing personalized cleats to support their favorite charitable causes. Following the game, the bespoke cleats are auctioned off, with 100% of the revenue going to the charity designated by each player. Fans can bid on game-issued player cleats to assist players in raising revenue for their chosen organizations.

Brandon Bolden of the Raiders will be raising funds for the American Cancer Society. Justin Herron will wear cleats in support of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, while Maxx Crosby will support the animal charity Stand Up for Pits Foundation.

“Our players are passionate supporters of many charitable causes, and they serve as changemakers in their communities,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said. “We are excited to build upon last year’s success and work with our players to expand this unique platform that enables them to raise awareness for causes they support.”

According to Forbes, in the six years since the program’s debut, the game-worn cleats have raised over 1.5 million dollars for charity.
