Good News: Nottingham Forest now in talks with Europa League winning manager as Cooper replacement

Nottingham Forest is actively exploring potential replacements for their current manager, Steve Cooper, who is under increasing scrutiny following a string of unfavorable results, including a recent 5-0 defeat against Fulham. As the team faces the threat of slipping into the bottom three, the club is reportedly compiling a shortlist of candidates, and Oliver Glasner has emerged as a prominent figure in their considerations.

The recent downturn in Nottingham Forest’s performance, marked by four consecutive Premier League losses, has heightened the urgency to address the managerial situation. It is speculated that Steve Cooper’s future at the club hinges on securing a significant victory in the upcoming match against Wolves.

The Athletic has reported that Nottingham Forest has been in contact with Oliver Glasner, the former Eintracht Frankfurt manager, signaling a serious interest in his managerial services. Daniel Taylor, in a recent Q&A session addressing club matters, acknowledged ongoing discussions with Glasner’s camp, revealing that the club has been in regular contact with the Austrian manager.

Oliver Glasner, aged 49, boasts a notable coaching career, culminating in a successful stint with Eintracht Frankfurt. His achievements include guiding the Bundesliga side to a Europa League victory, notably defeating Rangers in the final during the 2021/22 season. Throughout his tenure at Frankfurt, Glasner managed 97 games, with a win ratio of approximately 40%.

While Glasner’s managerial experience might not be extensive, his track record showcases success, paralleling the circumstances of Steve Cooper’s appointment at Nottingham Forest. The Austrian coach has previously managed Austrian clubs SV Ried and LASK before transitioning to Wolfsburg in Germany in 2019.

During his initial tenure in the Bundesliga, Glasner achieved an impressive win ratio close to 50%, catching the attention of Eintracht Frankfurt. Now, as Nottingham Forest considers him as a potential replacement for Steve Cooper, the club appears determined to explore managerial options to rejuvenate their campaign in the Premier League.
