Hamilton attended the ceremony for the first time since 2020, as Formula One regulations require the top three drivers in the Drivers’ Championship to attend. Despite receiving the third-place trophy, the 38-year-old was upbeat on the night.

When asked how he believed the season went for him after earning his award, Hamilton answered, “Good evening everyone, I just want to wish everyone a big, congratulations on this year.”

“It’s been a long season for everyone, and we’re all looking forward to the winter break.” We’re working extremely hard to ensure that we return strong next year, and I must congratulate Red Bull, Verstappen, and Checo for a tremendous year.

“Max Verstappen performed flawlessly. Max and his entire team really upped the bar, and we have a lot of work to do to narrow that gap, but I genuinely believe we can.” Hamilton then went on to thank his Mercedes team for their help throughout the season, giving them a big vote of confidence after recently talking out about his troubles in 2023.

”Thank you also to my team, who never gave up this year,” he added. “We started off with a car that was basically a sister to the previous year’s car and was not good or fun to drive for the majority of the year.”
