Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is interested in former Manchester City attacker Ferran Torres.
According to TuttoJuve, three additional clubs are interested in signing the Barcelona forward during the January transfer window. So, what is the latest on Newcastle United and Ferran Torres? Let us investigate.
Newcastle United linked with former Manchester City forward Ferran Torres
According to TuttoJuve, Newcastle United are interested in signing Barcelona’s Ferran Torres during the January transfer window.
According to the Italian news outlet, Torres wants more playing time and “is seriously considering leaving Barcelona.”
TuttoJuve has highlighted the competition that the Spain international forward is now facing at Barcelona, claiming that he may “consider tempting offers to move on loan.”
Sadly for Eddie Howe’s side, they are not the only team interested in the 23-year-old. Torres is also being pursued by Juventus, Napoli, and Atletico Madrid, who cost Barcelona £46.3 million (Sky Sports) in transfer fees when he was purchased from Manchester City in January 2022.
My View: Newcastle United should avoid signing Ferran Torres
Newcastle United, even on a loan basis, should not recruit Ferran Torres from Barcelona in the January transfer window, in my opinion.
I don’t believe the 23-year-old would improve or strengthen the Magpies’ offense.
Torres is an excellent ‘forward,’ but he is not a ‘natural’ striker. I don’t believe the youngster will score many goals.
While Newcastle might need a’striker’ to replace Callum Wilson when he is unavailable, I do not believe Torres is the perfect player for the job.
Torres has three goals and one assist in 14 La Liga games for Barcelona this season, as well as two goals and one assist in five UEFA Champions League games.
