Wolff savages FIA investigation as Mercedes confirm ‘legal exchange’ and Mercedes is now willing to…

F1 Academy managing director Susie Wolff has expressed her disappointment and frustration following the recent controversy surrounding her and her husband, Toto Wolff, after claims of a conflict of interest surfaced. The FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) revealed that there is no ongoing investigation into the matter, leading Susie Wolff to demand better from the sport and the media.

The story initially broke, suggesting a potential conflict of interest due to Toto Wolff’s role as the team principal of Mercedes, which could provide the couple with privileged information not typically accessible. In response, Susie Wolff issued a statement describing the complaints as ‘deeply insulting’ and ‘misogynistic.’ However, Formula 1 teams distanced themselves from the controversy, denying any complaints against the former racing driver.

The FIA’s subsequent revelation that there was no ongoing investigation has left confusion about the origins of the story. Susie Wolff has now reacted to the FIA’s statement, taking to Instagram to express her dissatisfaction and call for improvements within the sport and the media.

In her Instagram post, Wolff mentioned her surprise at the FIA’s statement, stating, “For two days, insinuations have been made about my integrity in public and through background briefings, but nobody from the FIA has spoken to me directly.” She raised concerns about being collateral damage in an attempt to attack someone else or discredit her personally.

Wolff emphasized the lack of transparency and accountability in the situation, expressing gratitude for the support of Formula One teams. However, she highlighted the online abuse she received about her work and family and affirmed her determination to find out who instigated the campaign and misled the media.

Wolff insisted that what happened during the week is not acceptable and called for better standards within the sport. She expressed her commitment to not be intimidated and promised to pursue the truth behind the controversy.

Additionally, Mercedes released a statement on behalf of team boss Toto Wolff, mentioning ongoing legal exchanges with the FIA. The team is seeking full transparency about the events and reasons behind the controversy, reserving all legal rights and stating that further comments will be made in due course.
