After Charlton’s 2-2 draw with Cambridge United yesterday, Michael Appleton was unable to provide an update on contract talks with Corey Blackett-Taylor and George Dobson.
Both are scheduled to become free agents in the summer.
Chem Campbell headed home Blackett-Taylor’s cross from the left side of the box, giving Blackett-Taylor his sixth assist of the season. This is the same as Blackpool’s CJ Hamilton, Peterborough’s Kwame Poku, and Derby’s Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.
“Yeah obviously, as you know, I leave that to the hierarchy to deal with contracts and stuff,” stated head coach Appleton when questioned about the situation with Blackett-Taylor and Dobson.
“All I can say is that they two are showing up, doing their work, and contributing to the team right now.”
“Their levels will fluctuate from time to time, but I would say both of them have been reasonably consistent this year, and Corey has his moments.” He’ll be frustrated at times because he doesn’t get into games as early as he should, and it takes a little longer.
“Dobbo didn’t have his best game today, but he’s been outstanding since I walked in.” He has served as a leader. He wears the captain’s armband and has been a leader both on and off the field.
“I know he’ll be one that I can rely on every single week.”
