Everton are on set for a third straight win after overcoming Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United in the previous eight days, thanks to the midfielder’s sixth goal of the Premier League season.
However, the game at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon was disrupted by obnoxious chanting from some of Chelsea’s 3,000 or so traveling fans, who could be heard inciting the local crowd with poverty-teasing slogans.
Carragher, who made 737 appearances for Liverpool, took to X only minutes after Doucoure had fired the Blues ahead, saying he was “delighted” to see Mauricio Pochettino’s team go behind as a result of such unpleasant “nonsense” sung at the people of his home city.
“Feed the scousers [annoyed emoji],” Carragher wrote. “Delighted Everton have gone in front after the nonsense getting sung by the Chelsea fans.”
