Julian Warren was left gushing over Jed Wallace live on Sky Sports after West Brom’s 2-0 win against Rotherham on December 12.
Grady Diangana and Wallace scored both goals at New York Stadium, keeping the Baggies on pace for promotion.
However, it was the latter’s goal that grabbed the most attention, as his free kick struck the back of the net. “Jed Wallace then scored an excellent free kick from the end of the box to ensure West Brom’s three points,” Warren remarked on Sky Sports News, 12 December, 09:42pm.
“That was a much-needed win for them after back-to-back defeats which just firmed up their place in the playoff places and another for West Brom as well.”
The first half was pretty calm, but Diangana’s deflected effort in the 52nd minute broke the deadlock, stirring cheers among the traveling fans.
Rotherham had little chances, and the Baggies comfortably controlled the game, with Wallace’s superb free-kick late in the game securing the victory.
This victory became even more significant because other playoff candidates Leeds United were defeated by Sunderland.
Leeds’ missed points presented West Brom with an opportunity to capitalize on their promotion hopes.
The Baggies’ victory not only solidified their playoff position but also expanded the space between themselves and the competition, making it an excellent result in the context of the promotion battle.
Carlos Corberan is clearly doing miracles at the club, as seen by this outcome and performance.
