Good News: Just In Atlanta Braves confirm the signing of another top super star

The Atlanta Braves are solidifying their connection with former Los Angeles Angels players as they welcome Andrew Velazquez, the Angels’ longtime shortstop, into their ranks. This migration from Anaheim to Atlanta has seen notable players like David Fletcher and Max Stassi making similar moves.

Andrew Velazquez, affectionately nicknamed “Squid,” has inked a minor-league contract with the Braves, marking a significant transition in his career. Despite displaying a commendable defensive prowess over his six seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), Velazquez has struggled at the plate, maintaining a batting average of just .189. His offensive contributions include 12 home runs and 40 RBIs throughout his MLB journey.

Velazquez’s baseball journey has taken him through various teams, including the Tampa Bay Rays, Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees, and Cleveland, before joining the Angels for the last two years. However, his tenure with the Angels was marked by a modest batting average of .191, 11 home runs, and 31 RBIs over the past two seasons.

The 2022 MLB season saw Velazquez’s most extensive playing time, featuring in 125 games for the Angels. Unfortunately, his below-average batting performance led to diminished playing time, with only 54 games in the subsequent season. Consequently, the Angels chose to part ways with him.

Atlanta initially claimed Velazquez off waivers on September 5th, and now, in a notable move, they have re-signed him. This development places Velazquez on his sixth team in as many years, showcasing the transient nature of his professional journey. However, with this opportunity in Atlanta, there is anticipation regarding whether he can establish a more enduring presence with one of the league’s top teams. As the Braves continue to strengthen their roster, Velazquez aims to contribute his skills and experience, both in the field and at the plate, to aid the team’s success in the upcoming seasons.
