Mehrdad Ghodoussi, Newcastle United’s co-owner, has offered a message of encouragement to supporters following the club’s exit from Europe following last night’s defeat to AC Milan.
Newcastle needed at least a draw to continue their European campaign, but despite their best efforts throughout the group stage, they fell just short.
Ghodoussi turned to social media following the game to thank the supporters for their persistent support, declare that Newcastle deserved to advance, and guarantee that this is just the beginning.
Newcastle have been unfortunate these last few weeks
Following an incredible season last year, it’s evident that certain aspects haven’t favored Newcastle in the ongoing campaign.
The team’s extensive list of injuries under Eddie Howe’s management significantly impacted their performance, notably leaving a noticeable gap in Nick Pope’s absence during the last game.
Additionally, facing tough draws across various competitions has piled immense pressure on the players, visibly affecting their performance.
However, these challenges shouldn’t serve as excuses. In reality, other teams in their league are far more advanced in their club development than Newcastle.
As mentioned in Mehrdad’s post, this phase marks only the initial steps toward what promises to be a promising future. Despite the present difficulties, these experiences will eventually contribute to the club’s growth down the line.
