Auburn fans go crazy for an Alabama 5-star WR commit at a basketball game versus USC

Auburn fans aren’t giving up hope that Hugh Freeze will trade five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams from Alabama to Auburn.

Williams, who reclassified to the 2024 recruiting class, had an outstanding career at Saraland (Ala.) High School, where he won the Class 6A State Championship this year. He dominated Clay-Chalkville High School and was named Most Valuable Player in the Alabama-Mississippi Allstar Game. Williams informed Touchdown Alabama Magazine’s Director of Scouting and Recruiting, Justin Smith, that he is “locked in to playing at Alabama.” Auburn supporters went berserk for Williams during the Tigers’ game against the USC Trojans on Sunday. From the student section, fans began yelling, “We want Williams!”

Auburn is unlikely to get Williams from Alabama, especially given Nick Saban’s track record of placing receivers in the first round of the NFL Draft. In the first round, he selected Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, Calvin Ridley, Jerry Jeudy, DeVonta Smith, Henry Ruggs III, Jaylen Waddle, and Jameson Williams. Smith became the Crimson Tide’s first Heisman Memorial Trophy winner, taking home the prized bronze award in 2020.

Auburn supporters want Williams, but it appears that he will not abandon Saban.
