The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have secured the services of all-star guard Pat Neufeld for another year by signing him to a one-year contract extension, as announced by the CFL club on Monday. Neufeld, who was set to become a free agent in February, will continue his tenure with the Blue Bombers for the upcoming season.

Standing at an impressive six-foot-six and weighing 311 pounds, the Regina native boasts an extensive CFL career, entering his 11th season with the Blue Bombers and 13th overall in the league. In the previous season, he started in 17 regular-season games, earning recognition as a league all-star for the third time in his career.

The Blue Bombers clinched the top spot in scoring for the 2023 season, and Neufeld played a pivotal role in the success of the offensive line, contributing to Brady Oliveira’s league-leading 1,534 rushing yards. Additionally, the seasoned player started in the West Final victory against the B.C. Lions and the subsequent Grey Cup loss to the Montreal Alouettes.

Turning 35 on December 26, Neufeld brings a wealth of experience to the team. Originally drafted by Saskatchewan in 2010, he was traded to Winnipeg in 2013. With a total of 153 career CFL games under his belt, including 116 with the Blue Bombers, Neufeld continues to be a valuable asset to the team.
