Commitment of Kansas DL Gage Keys to Auburn Football
A defensive lineman has been acquired on transfer by the Tigers.
Auburn University has received its second transfer pledge of the 2024 academic year.
Kansas defensive lineman Gage Keys, according to his social media, has committed to Auburn. Three seasons were spent by Keys with the Minnesota Golden Gophers prior to his transfer to the Kansas City Jayhawks.
Twenty-one total tackles were accumulated by the 6-foot-5, 280-pound lineman during his lone season with Kansas. Keys was ranked No. 32 defensive end and No. 20 overall athlete in Ohio as a high school prospect.
Auburn has acquired Keys, the second player of the 2024 cycle to transfer, after Georgia State wide receiver Robert Lewis.
Lewis, a former three-star prospect, made Third-Team All-Sun Belt in 2023 after accumulating 70 receptions for 877 yards and seven receiving touchdowns. The 5-foot-11 wide receiver Lewis recorded his finest performance of the season in the season’s opening matchup against Charlotte, hauling in six passes for 220 yards and two scores.
In the year 2024, the Tigers intend to enhance their receiver performance. Having already earned the commitment of five-stars Cam Coleman and Perry Thompson, four-stars Malcolm Simmons and Bryce Cain, and now Georgia State transfer Robert Lewis, the corps is already trending towards taking a stride forward under Hugh Freeze next season.
Keys will also help the Tigers strengthen their defensive line play, which lacked pressure at times last season.
