Will Derrick Henry Play in Week 11? NFL Injury Status, News & Updates

The Titans must make a critical decision about the 29-year-old Henry, who is set to become a free agent after his four-year, $50 million contract expires in 2020.

With an estimated $91.8 million in cap space this offseason, Tennessee possesses the financial flexibility to retain Derrick Henry. However, the emergence of rookie Tyjae Spears, who logged a substantial 410 snaps—just one less than Henry this season—adds complexity to the decision-making process.

Henry’s recent performance marked a career low, notably managing only 9 yards on 16 carries in a game. This starkly contrasted with his usual average of 203.6 rushing yards over the past five games against Houston. Despite his personal struggles, Henry acknowledged the team’s collective shortcomings, recognizing the Texans’ dominance and their ability to counter every challenge.

In the ongoing season, Henry has amassed 214 carries for 875 yards and 10 touchdowns across 14 games. His illustrious career statistics include 9,210 rushing yards, ranking second in Oilers/Titans history behind Eddie George, and leading the franchise with 88 rushing touchdowns.

Looking forward, the Titans have upcoming fixtures—a home game against the Seattle Seahawks, a trip to Houston, and a final season game at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Henry remains committed to giving his utmost in these last three games, aiming to leave it all on the field.
