Good News: Los Angeles Rams prepare to welcome another top super star

The Los Angeles Rams may see the return of running back Ronnie Rivers in their upcoming game on Thursday against the New Orleans Saints. Rivers, who has been designated to return from injured reserve, participated in practice on Tuesday, initiating a 3-week window during which the team can decide to activate him to the 53-man roster. With Kyren Williams and Royce Freeman currently the only running backs on the roster, Rivers’ potential return on Thursday could provide a valuable addition to the team’s backfield.

Rivers, a former undrafted free agent from Fresno State, has had a limited but impactful role this season, recording 13 carries for 57 yards. Notably, in a crucial overtime win against the Colts, he contributed nine carries for 47 yards and two catches for 10 yards. In his rookie season in 2022, Rivers had nine carries for 21 yards.

Originally signed by the Cardinals and briefly with the Seahawks, Rivers joined the Rams practice squad in 2022. The team’s decision to designate him for return from injured reserve suggests that he may play a significant role in the Rams’ playoff push, providing depth and versatility in the running back position. As the Rams navigate a competitive season and aim for success in the playoffs, Rivers’ potential return adds an intriguing dynamic to their offensive options. Whether he will be activated for the upcoming game or require additional practice time remains to be seen, but his presence could be a valuable asset for the Rams in the postseason.
