Heading into the 2025 recruiting cycle, Iowa football has already secured commitments from three promising prospects. As the focus shifts towards building the 2025 class, there are five key targets that the Hawkeyes have set their sights on.
The 2024 class for Iowa is nearly finalized, with 21 prospects set to sign on Wednesday, accompanied by a robust list of walk-ons. While there might be room for late additions in January and February, the primary attention is now directed towards navigating the transfer portal and retaining players from the 2023 roster. Simultaneously, the Hawkeyes are laying the groundwork for their 2025 class.
The three commitments in the 2025 class are notable talents hailing from various positions. Jimmy Sullivan, a three-star quarterback from Fort Wayne (Ind.) Carroll, opted for Iowa over competing offers from Minnesota, Illinois, and Michigan State. His decision followed a recent visit to Iowa City, showcasing the program’s appeal.
Joining Sullivan is Pleasant Valley’s three-star offensive lineman, Joey VanWetzinga. While Iowa was his sole offer, VanWetzinga attracted attention from multiple power-five schools, underscoring the Hawkeyes’ keen eye for talent. Additionally, Sycamore (Ill.) three-star linebacker Burke Gautcher committed to Iowa over several Big Ten West suitors, adding further depth to the Hawkeyes’ 2025 class.
