76ers Patrick Beverley delivers trash talk to Timberwolves after Sixers big win

The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, thanks to superstar Joel Embiid’s monster 51-point outburst. After the game, Patrick Beverley, one of the league’s most outspoken players, had some more trash language for the Timberwolves: “Number one team, belt to a**” Beverley made a post on X.

To be more specific, Beverley has been using the phrase “belt to a**” in his podcast as a different way of indicating that one team lost to another. So, according to Beverley, the Timberwolves were given a belt lashing by Joel Embiid and the Sixers.

Embiid’s big night

Embiid’s impressive performance of scoring 51 points resulted from making 17 out of 25 field goal attempts, which accounted for a 68% success rate. Alongside this, the reigning MVP secured 12 rebounds. Tyrese Maxey, the Sixers guard, contributed significantly to the win with 35 points and five assists. Despite only Embiid and Maxey reaching double digits for Philadelphia, their combined efforts were more than sufficient for securing the victory. The game remained tight until the fourth quarter when the Sixers surged ahead. When there were approximately eight minutes left in regular play, Philadelphia held a narrow three-point lead at 97-94. Following baskets traded between Maxey and Minnesota’s Naz Reid, the Sixers’ momentum picked up with a Paul Reed putback, a Maxey layup, an Embiid technical free throw, and a jumper that extended the lead to 11 points. The Timberwolves struggled to score while Maxey capitalized with another driving layup and a successful free throw, widening the lead to 14 points. From there, the Sixers maintained control and sealed the win.

Currently positioned third in the Eastern Conference, the Sixers’ strong performance suggests potential for more entertaining moments involving Patrick Beverley in the near future.
